1. cable is classified by voltage level

Power cables are generally made at a certain voltage level, with a voltage grade of 0.5kV, 1, 3, 6, 10, 20, 35, 60, 110, 220, and 330kV. Among them, the 1kV voltage grade power cable is the most used. The power cable of 3 ~ 35kV voltage grade is often used in the main power supply lines in large and medium-sized buildings. The power cables with 60 to 330kV voltage levels are used in such occasions as the unsuitable transmission lines of overhead conductors, as well as on the crossing of the river and the seabed. The voltage can be divided into low voltage cable (less than 1kV) and high voltage cable (more than 1kV). From the aspects of construction technology requirements, cable joints, structural characteristics and operation maintenance of cable terminals, it is also divided into low voltage power cables, medium voltage power cables (1 ~ 10kV), and high-voltage power cables.

2. classification of cable core section area

The conductive core line of power cable is made according to a certain grade of nominal section area, which is convenient for manufacturing and design and construction selection. The nominal cross section area of power cables in China is 2.5, 4, 6, 10, 16, 25, 35, 50, 70, 95, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 600mm2, and so on. The specifications of the nominal section area of high pressure oil filled cable are 100, 240, 400, 600, 700 and 845mm2. The multi core cable is based on the maximum cross section of the cross section.

3. classification by wire core number

The electric cable has 1~5 cores and 5 cores. Single core cable is used to transmit single-phase AC, DC and special occasions (high voltage motor drive out line).
